Viral Photos of Nigerian man wedding another man in US gets people talking
A set of photos circulating online has sparked widespread discussion after showing Mr. Innocent Ndubuisi Okechukwu, a Nigerian man from Imo State, in a same-sex wedding ceremony.
The ceremony, held at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, blended traditional and religious elements, with attendees dressed in red caps and blue agbada, and was officiated by Rev. Gregg Morris.
The images quickly drew mixed reactions from Nigerians on social media. While many responded with shock, memes, and cultural commentary, a small number of people shared messages of support and congratulations.
Okechukwu, a PhD candidate at the University of Iowa who is known for combining African and contemporary music, later made a subtle Facebook post, encouraging critics to “digest” the photos.
