Controversial Afrobeats artist Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, widely known as Portable, has publicly questioned the lyrical direction of Nigeria's top musical exports. In a recent Instagram broadcast, the singer claimed that immense wealth and global fame have compromised the artistic integrity of figures like Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, and Olamide. Portable noted a disappointing shift away from socially conscious music toward superficial themes of materialism and luxury. He concluded that their current discographies fail to offer meaningful guidance or inspiration to working-class Nigerians facing daily hardships

Portable said their success has made them lose touch with the experiences of many Nigerians.

The Zazu crooner also called on his fellow musicians to change direction by producing more conscious songs that carry positive messages.

He added that artistes should also create more gospel-themed music that encourages people to remember God.
