Baba Elesho Says His Wife Is the Head of His Family

Veteran Nollywood actor Adewale Elesho Adeoye, popularly known as Baba Elesho, has revealed that he considers his wife the head of his household, emphasizing that her opinion plays a crucial role in family decisions.

Speaking in an interview with AfricanAList, the actor recounted a sensitive family situation involving his elderly mother and how he sought his wife's approval before making a major decision.

Actor Explains Why He Moved His Mother Into His Home

According to Elesho, his mother had been struggling with an eye condition for several years and was living with one of his younger siblings while he continued to support her financially and emotionally.

However, during a visit, he discovered that she was deeply unhappy with her living arrangement. The actor recalled that his mother expressed severe discomfort and told him she would rather be thrown into the sea than continue living in her current environment.

Moved by her distress, Elesho immediately decided to bring her to his Lagos home. Despite the urgency of the situation, he chose to speak with his wife first before introducing his mother into the household.

He revealed that he left his mother waiting in the car while he went upstairs to inform his wife about the situation.

Respect for His Wife Shaped the Decision

Narrating the incident, Elesho said he respectfully approached his wife and told her that he had brought a visitor home. When she asked who it was, he explained that it was his mother and shared the circumstances that led to the decision.

His wife questioned why he had arrived without prior notice, prompting him to explain that his mother was unhappy and no longer wanted to remain where she had been staying.

The actor noted that consulting his wife was important because any decision that affects the home should involve her.

“I came to speak with my wife first because she had to know about it. You own the home and your reaction matters,” he said.

‘My Wife Is the Head of My Family’

Elesho explained that his approach is based on mutual respect and his belief that his wife occupies a central position in the family.

While reaffirming his commitment to caring for his mother, he stressed that respecting his wife's role in the home is equally important.

The veteran actor concluded by stating that, in his household, “my wife is the head of my family,” adding that maintaining a balance between responsibility to one's parents and respect for one's spouse is key to preserving harmony within the family
